Statement of intent: Like the title says, my random musings on mostly firearms related issues: guns, gear, etc. Practical is defined as "of or concerned with the actual doing or use of something rather than with theory or ideas. The gun business is a strange business to be in. Realistically speaking and from an end user standpoint, guns are pretty durable items and with care will last a lifetime. Hopefully you start to see the dilemma of trying to sustain a living from something that is probably not going to wear out anytime soon
Quite a bit of what goes on in retail firearms is the selling of a lifestyle: operator, sheepdog, grey man, warrior, patriot. I'm pretty average guy with slightly better than average knowledge and skill. I shoot, reload, wrench on my guns, mostly out of necessity. I'd like to hopefully offer a dissident view of gun ownership, offer rational critiques on certain training issues, build community and shine the light on what I call gunsumerism, i.e.: the emphasis of gear over skills.
